The Junior League of Buffalo awards $7,000 to The Service Collaborative of WNY

The Junior League of Buffalo is pleased to announce that it has awarded one Community Assistance Small Grant in the amount of $7,000 to The Service Collaborative of WNY, Inc.  The Junior League of Buffalo Community Assistance Small Grant program seeks to support non-profit organizations who are directly engaged in Western New York addressing a demonstrated need in the community, has the potential to impact a significant number of community members and will contribute in a substantial way to the quality of life in Western New York. The Small Grants program is pleased to award the grant to The Service Collaborative’s “Beds for Buffalo” (B4B) project that will directly engage and support the Junior League of Buffalo’s Community Impact focus area of Families-At-Risk.

The purpose and mission of The Service Collaborative of WNY, Inc. (TSC) is to create opportunities for all individuals to service their communities, challenging them to turn their ideals into action, and their passion into positive change. Through transformational service and civic responsibility, TSC is designing a sustainable future for our nation’s communities.

The $7,000 grant will be used in the “Beds for Buffalo” program (B4B). Beds for Buffalo is a program that works to build beds for the children of Western New York that do not have adequate sleeping arrangements.  Through B4B, TSC distributes twin sized bed frames, new mattresses, and new sheets set to identified community partners that service families living in poverty.  The grant will go towards the purchase of materials for 200 beds, including hardware, paint, nails, mattresses, and volunteer operating costs.  Additional funding has been secured through a partnership with Baillie Lumber.
