Community Grants

The Junior League of Buffalo is pleased to announce that it has awarded one Community Assistance Small Grant in the amount of $7,000 to Journey’s End Refugee Services. The Junior League of Buffalo Community Assistance Small Grants program seeks to support non-profit organizations who are directly engaged in Western New York addressing a demonstrated need in the community, has the potential to impact a significant number of community members, and will contribute in a substantial way to the quality of life in Western New York. The Small Grants program is pleased toward the grant to the Journey’s End Refugee Services project that will directly engage and support the Junior League of Buffalo’s Community Impact focus area of Families-At-Risk: Female heads of households living in poverty.
Journey’s End Refugee Services, Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Buffalo, dedicated to resettling refugee families from around the world. Journey’s End was established in 1985 with the mission of providing resources and assistance to refugees, without regard to ethnic origin or creed, so they may become healthy, independent, and productive members of our community.
The $7,000 grant will be used to purchase classroom computers for the Coding Your Future program, a program run in collaboration with WNY STEM to take place during summer 2019. Coding Your Future is a two-week long computer camp in which young refugee women from Western New York are invited to participate in an introductory course in coding and basic computer skills. Journey’s End serves over 3,500 individuals annually and seeks to give over 100 young refugee women greater computer access through this program yearly.
