Junior League of Buffalo Community Assistance Small Grants Program

The Junior League of Buffalo is pleased to announce that it has awarded one Community Assistance Small Grant in the amount of $7,000 to the Family Justice Center of Erie County. The Junior League of Buffalo Community Assistance Small Grant program seeks to support non-profit organizations who are directly engaged in Western New York addressing a demonstrated need in the community, has the potential to impact a significant number of community members and will contribute in a substantial way to the quality of life in Western New York. The Small Grants program is pleased to award the grant to the Family Justice Center’s project that will directly engage and support the Junior League of Buffalo’s Community Impact focus area of Families-At-Risk: Female heads of households living in poverty.

The purpose and mission of the Family Justice Center is to deliver comprehensive client services by its staff and partners to address offender accountability, safety, healing and prevention to enable clients and their children to break the cycle and live free from domestic violence with more promise and hope for a successful future.

The $7,000 grant will be used to repair, remodel and restock the children’s play area in the Family Justice Center’s downtown location. The hope is to create a safe, stimulating environment for all children who visit The Family Justice Center. This will perhaps temporarily distract them from unfortunate circumstance of an abusive household. Last year, the Family Justice Center of Erie County saw over 2000 clients annually and continues approximately 80% of those clients had children with them – all will benefit from the playroom remodel.
