The Junior League of Buffalo Community Assistance/Small Grants Program applauds community organizations and programs that support our focus area.

Qualified not-for-profit agencies (501(c)(3) designated) throughout Western New York are encouraged to apply for grant funding up to $1,000.

COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE GRANTS – 2006-2007 RECIPIENTS

 

Journey’s End Refugee Services: Funds will assist refugee women in overcoming challenges and barrier they face when coming to the US through two particular programs, New Horizons Summer Program and Mother’s Tutoring Program.  Funds will be used for curriculum, activity materials and field trips for the women.

 

Circle of Hope of Niagara Hospice: Funds will provide educational materials regarding children’s grief to surviving parents or guardians.  Funds will be used to purchase resource booklets (24-page) entitled, “Helping Children Grieve and Grow.”

 

Ladies of Charity: The award will support Project Fresh Start which provides assistance to at-risk individuals and families in three symbolic areas: Pride in environment; Pride in Self; and, Nutrition al Aid.  Funds will be used to purchase and distribute program support items that include cleaning supplies, personal grooming items and kitchen/cooking implements and small appliances. 

 

Orchard Park Public Library: Award will update and enhance the collection on violence against women and domestic violence intervention strategies at four southeastern Erie County public libraries.  Funds will be used to purchase books and publicity items (brochures and posters). 

 

SABAH: Grant will fund technology in support of SABAH’s School-Time Adaptive Skating Program which serves Families at Risk by providing educational recreation for more than 350 WNY children challenged by disabilities and low socioeconomics.  Funds will be used to purchase software that will facilitate scheduling, individualized curriculum development and monitoring of participants, funding issues, volunteer management and similar – all aspects of organizational administration and programming.
